We arrived safely and checked into our room which was situated on a hill. Walk down to the Antigua area of town took 30 minutes. Long enough to get really hungry. As you can see we weren’t hungry for much time. The pinxchos (tapas) in the basque region are as plentiful as they are varied As I look at the pictures I feel my tummy expanding. They count how many toothpicks are on your plate as to how much they charge. We had enough kindling to start a fireplace
Vi and the girls headed back for the states. No sleep but big bellies for sure. Bri and I headed for the Sagrada Familia to tour the towers. Highly recommended. Can’t say enough. Gaudi was a genius and a mad man. Who thinks is something like this? As a bonus a boys choir came in to sing. Don’t know if u can hear the video but I was crying. Went to BAr Mut for filet with foie gras the Galician clams and tiny clams with garlic. Stop !!!!!
We we t to the Barcelonetta neighborhood for lunch on Sunday We had breakfast with Sandra and headed for the pier. Walked around. It was a glorious day. Went to Can Majo on the beach. Ordered paella fideua (paella with vermicelli instead of rice) chipirones (small clams) grilled cAlamari. Well more photos than I can post. My mind is going ba k to the wonderful meal setting and company. After Vi Shanny and I took the rickshaw to the W Hotel for an ADD. The rest walked. Ha ha
So the adventure continued with new mouths to feed Went to the Bodega which is owned by an Adria brother Delectable. Foie peppers tortilla garlicky shrimp and hake fish so fresh we swear we saw the fisherman walk away. Desserts were chocolate chocolate and more chocolate Does anyone have Jenny Craig’s number?
After picking up my jaw from the floor and seeing my daughters who surprised is with their visit, we went into the barrio gotico This is an old section of Barcelona. Stopped at our favorite bar and smallest bar with our friend Mr Zimi. Then off to restaurant L’Academia for dinner. It is set in an old stone building. Vi knows the owner and we were whisked outside around the corner to the wine cellar. There was our song playing, champagne chilling and our friends from Spain waiting to toast us. Then we were taken to a newly decorated room in the upstairs and given a fantastic dinner. Lots of laughs tears of joy and toasts. No food pics from me but am hoping Nina uploads some for me. An incredible day!
